Im really glad this presentation exists because it reinforces that social media is about customer interaction, retention, service and loyalty. Not primarily a sales platform. I hope more people take note of this and start to plan how they can service their customers using it. Its also not a tool for every business which some need to recognise.
Thanks for sharing.

Jim,

I had to respond - great post. I couldn't agree more. I have worked for people in my past who refused to stand behind their product. It is twice as aweful when you opporate a service business. In fact, I used to sell for a lettershop/mailer that would not allow the reps to commit a mailing date to their customers! And would offer nothing in return when client projects went out late. That made it incredibly hard to retain clients.

Always make a guarantee - and make it stick!

Chris, you might have missed my point. This was an intermittent issue. It started about 6 months after I purchased the TV The sound went on and off. At the end of the day, I don't like internet bullies either, but I also believe in justice.

Great post here Jim!

Its amazing that companies in the service industry that can only survive with happy customers still think that they are able to push the customer around and make them submit to how they want to do business. In the new world the pull of social media is king and the power has shifted to the customer. If you want people to keep walking in the door you better make darn well sure they are happy when they walk out.

I'd be curious to see how this theater does going forward and see if they start to shift their focus a bit towards the customer. Sounds to me like they need to start monitoring social media and do a few customer satisfaction surveys to make sure that they're making their customers happy.

Looking forward to reading further posts from you.
